How to Fish Lure Lookup: Creature & Lure Finder
Find which lures match a How to Fish creature, or which creatures a lure can catch, then filter the reported mapping by island, rod and source status.
Checked 2026-09-11 · Applies to Patch level not stated by source
Quick Answer
Use Creature to Lure when you know the fish, or Lure to Creature when you have bait and want its reported targets. Search or choose a creature, lure and island; each row links to its source. These mappings are community-reported, and Drip collection state stays in the separate Drip Tracker.
Lure Lookup
34 sourced creature-to-lure mappings are searchable. 34 sourced mappings are documented. They do not settle the public 44/49 conflict because boss, quest and Drip classifications have not been independently reconciled.
This lookup does not save collection marks. Drip progress stays in the separate Drip Tracker.
Three lookup paths
- Creature to lure: enter the creature name and read the reported island, rod and lure.
- Lure to targets: select a lure to see every currently documented match.
- Island to loadout: choose an island, then compare the rods and lures represented in the filtered results.
What is French Fry Bait?
Community-reported / Limited confirmation: “French Fry Bait” appears to be a community nickname for the bait the player has by default. It has not been verified as the formal name shown in the current game UI.
Do not search Lighthouse for a separate pickup based on that nickname, and do not assume an item was removed. This lookup uses Free Lure or Beginner Lure where those names appear in the current documented mapping. For Pike and its separate Normal/Drip checklist states, see the Pike entry in Creature Tracker.
When a match fails
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Wrong island | The current mappings are island-specific. |
| Wrong rod | A lure name alone does not establish a valid setup. |
| Quest inactive | Quest or boss objects may require progression state outside the normal lure loop. |
| Version mismatch | The independent source does not state a patch level. |
| Single-source error | Every current match remains Reported until independently reproduced. |
Boss and quest warning
Objects such as cans, fish buckets or another creature may appear as reported boss triggers. They are searchable on Creature Tracker, not in the normal Lure Lookup, and should be tested only against the active quest.
